“Beloved” portraiture isn’t just for brides and grooms on their wedding day. It’s important to remember and celebrate the love and passion we feel for each other on a continuing basis. Celebrating your relationship with your beloved is one of the secrets to long-term happiness. The process of creating quality portraits can enable and reinforce those treasured feelings which bring us together in the first place. And like a fine bottle of wine grows more delicious with time.
Is it time to celebrate your Beloved? After all, they are your life’s best memories…
Amber and Jason have been married for over 20 years, congratulations and good luck with the next 20!
Every professional photographer, even those of us who enjoy weddings, like to make images just for fun. These were made at Pomme de Terre Lake, about 2.5 hours from Kansas City. Thanks go to my friend Dan for providing the ATV’s we needed to cruise around and find the right spot. Yes, those are fall colors visible at night – look at the star trails created by the long exposure!
Images with a white background, frequently referred to as “Hi-Key” images by photographers, can help focus attention on the subject. This technique can be used for a wide range of applications, including bridal portraits, children and babies, high school seniors, pets, products, etc. At times it’s necessary to fit the image into a website or advertising piece to satisfy the overall design.
Many photographers find it to be a challenging technique as it requires a thorough understanding of exposure, light control, and posing to execute well – definitely not something a camera set on “automatic” can typically handle.
The first two weeks of your baby’s life are a magical time. A new parent loves everything about those tiny features. The hands that are barely large enough to grasp an adult’s finger. There’s nothing like it, and the changes happen all too soon.
Sometimes artistic illustration of a photo can strengthen an image and it’s message. This photo of Bass Guitar teacher Clint performing with his Band Camp class at the Blues to Bach music store makes a great example.
My son, Jason, performing Prelude in C# Minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff!
